The death of Coney Island basketball coach and mentor, Robert 'Mr. Lou' Williams received a lot of attention after it was revealed as the reason behind Stephon Marbury's temporary absence from the Knicks. The basketball website Slam has run a moving obituary for Williams by Coney Island native and former NBA player, Jamel Thomas. In the discussions surrounding Coney Island, the youth growing up in the projects of Coney Island are often forgotten about.
